Michelle Voelker

Project Story: From Damage to Recovery

The Challenge: A Critical Breach

The Michelle Voelker project began as a standard call for moisture concerns but quickly evolved into a high-stakes remediation effort. Water intrusion had compromised the home’s structural “bones,” leading to saturated subfloors and elevated mold risks within the wall cavities. For Michelle, the goal wasn’t just to dry the home, but to restore a healthy living environment for her family and pets.

The Investigation & Remediation: Active Recovery

Unlike a standard inspection, this project required a “hands-on” approach to environmental stabilization:

  • Surgical Structural Access: To address the root of the problem, we performed controlled demolition of compromised drywall and flooring. This “open-wall” approach allowed us to treat the interior framing and ensure no moisture remained trapped where mold could quietly flourish.
  • Advanced Structural Drying: We deployed heavy-duty industrial dehumidifiers and axial air movers. By creating a controlled “dry-out” zone, we were able to pull deep-seated moisture from the plywood subfloors and wooden wall studs.
  • Atmospheric Purification: During remediation, we utilized HEPA-filtered air scrubbers to manage airborne particulates. We further protected the home’s healthy areas by installing ceiling-to-floor containment barriers, ensuring the rest of the house remained unaffected during the cleanup.

The Result: A Certified Clean Slate

Through a combination of mechanical drying and antimicrobial treatments, the Voelker residence was successfully cleared of active environmental threats. We concluded the project with a rigorous Post-Remediation Verification (PRV) and air sampling to confirm the home was officially back to “Condition 1″—a normal, healthy indoor environment.
