Protect Your Property with Expert Mold Inspection

IET Icon

Mold inspection and testing are professional services that identify hidden mold growth through visual inspections, moisture measurements, infrared imaging, and air and surface sampling. Early detection is crucial to prevent costly structural damage and protect health from mold exposure, especially in St. Petersburg’s humid climate with frequent rainfall. Mold growth often goes unnoticed until it causes visible damage or health issues, making timely inspection essential.

Indoor Environmental Technologies (IET) helps homeowners, property managers, and businesses in St. Petersburg, FL, address mold problems effectively. Our comprehensive five-step process includes sampling, lab analysis, detailed reporting, and prevention guidance, with post-remediation verification to ensure mold removal. Schedule your mold inspection today to safeguard your property from hidden mold threats.

Scientific and Straightforward Mold Reports

IET Icon

IET provides clear, scientifically rigorous mold inspection and testing reports with detailed spore counts and identification of many different mold species. Using moisture readings and infrared cameras, we detect hidden sources fueling fungal growth on decaying organic matter. Our air, cavity, swab, and tape sampling methods identify common molds, including black mold and other molds that produce mycotoxins, empowering qualified professionals to guide mold remediation and prevention.

Mold spores, a common component of household and workplace dust, require careful assessment of relative humidity and affected areas to ensure occupational safety. Measuring airborne particles per cubic meter helps detect indoor air quality issues and mold contamination in office buildings and homes. This comprehensive mold assessment supports effective mold prevention and protects indoor environments from mold-related health risks.

IET’s Five-Step Mold & Moisture Inspection Process

IET Icon

IET follows a thorough five-step mold and moisture inspection process designed to identify and address mold issues effectively:

STEP 01

Interview and Building History

Our IET team begins by gathering detailed information about current and past building conditions, including humidity or condensation problems, moldy odors, visible mold, any leaks in the building envelope or plumbing, major water events, persistent moldy odors, and unexplained respiratory issues that may justify mold testing. We also discuss your health concerns, symptoms, and possible health effects, which can help us better understand the indoor environment and narrow down potential causes.

STEP 01

STEP 02

Mold Inspection

A comprehensive visual inspections of all accessible areas is conducted to locate elevated moisture and visible mold growth. These visual inspections help locate the moisture source behind mold issues, including leaks, condensation, or poor ventilation. Our experts use advanced tools such as moisture meters, hygrometers, borescopes, particle counters, infrared thermal imaging cameras, and laser thermometers to detect hidden moisture and mold colonies, especially in HVAC systems, walls, floors, and ceilings. Digital photography documents these findings, making the invisible visible. Near the end of the assessment, mold growing on porous materials can indicate fungi colonizing wood and similar building materials.

STEP 02

STEP 03

Mold Testing & Analysis

Our team collects air and surface samples; depending on site conditions, sampling may include air sampling, cavity sampling, swab samples, and tape sampling to detect microscopic mold spores and identify mold species. When hidden contamination is suspected, cavity sampling can draw air from inside wall cavities for testing.

Samples are analyzed by trained professionals using microscopy and culturing techniques at accredited laboratories. This analysis provides detailed information on mold spore concentrations and species, and for air collection the sample volume depends on the pump’s flow rate, which helps guide remediation. Air results are considered alongside visual inspection and moisture findings rather than used as the only basis for conclusions.

STEP 03

STEP 04

Mold Report & Protocol

You receive a detailed inspection report and written report containing photo documentation, floor plans, spore counts, species analysis, and expert conclusions. If requested, IET can develop a mold remediation protocol outlining proper containment, removal, and cleaning procedures, noting what mold present was found in the sampled areas, how that informs the remediation process, and any repairs needed to stop further water entry before or during remediation to guide professional remediation contractors safely and effectively.

STEP 04

STEP 05

Post-Remediation Verification

After remediation, we perform a Post-Remediation Verification (PRV) survey, also known as a clearance test. This includes a visual inspection, moisture assessment of remediated areas, and air and surface sampling to confirm that mold has been successfully removed and moisture issues corrected. The PRV report serves as a detailed document for future reference.
